During his decade as CEO of IBM, Sam Palmisano didn’t say a lot in public about the financial markets and their impact on his decision making. He didn’t say a lot in public, period. He’d made a conscious choice to keep a low profile, and he began breaking with that choice only toward the end of his tenure.
